A retrospective drug use evaluation(DUE) study was conducted on vancomycin by reviewing patients charts for children. "Criteria for Drug Use Evaluation"established by Am. J. Hosp. Pharm. was selected, reviewed and utilized in DUE process. Total 63 charts of patients who treated with vancomycin in department of pediatrics from Jan. 1. 1989 to July 31. 1990 were retrospectively reviewed. As a results, 35 cases(56％) were met with the criteria for the justification of use, while remaining 28 cases(44％) were deviated from the criteria. In analysing process indicators several criteria including body temperature monitoring. WBC monitoring, appropriate initial dosage, and duration of therapy were relatively well documents showing the accepted levels above 70％, while serum creatinine monitoring and culture ＆ sensitivity test were infrequently documented with low accepted level. In outcome analysis, blood cultures after discontinuing drug were rarely documented, with accepted level of 35％.
